Main duties and responsibilities

As a Study Leader you’ll be key to delivering our summer courses. You’ll play an essential role in student welfare, upholding our high Academic standards and ensuring the smooth running of the programmes.

Location: Oxford, Cambridge or one of our Juniors sites. This is a non-residential role—accommodation and travel expenses are not included. Breakfast is offered at no extra cost to the employee.

Pay and hours: £530 per week on a fixed term contract. Up to 44 hours per week across Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

Reports to: Course and Deputy Course Director

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Main point of contact for Tutors and other teaching staff during the courses, providing practical support and addressing or escalating issues as required.
  • Coordinate an effective ‘first day welcome’ for Subject Tutors.
  • Manage Academic logistics, working closely with Head Office (Operations team) to ensure teaching spaces function well and appropriate resources are available.
  • Support students with Academic concerns and requests, working closely with the Head Office (Academic team) to ensure a suitably challenging student experience.
  • Observe subject classes and other Academic sessions for quality assurance.
  • Lead curriculum enhancement sessions such as goal setting and reflection, supervise study sessions and support students with their approach to independent learning.
  • Supervise classes in the event of unplanned Tutor absence.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful image of the company and yourself at all times.

Person specification

Minimum requirements

  • Experience communicating with a variety of stakeholders
  • Transferable experience in tutoring, teaching, coaching, training, or similar
  • Comfortable solving problems as they arise
  • Ability to clearly set expectations and hold others to account
  • General IT competency
  • Right to work in the UK (we cannot sponsor work visas for this role)

An ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Diplomatic written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong prioritisation skills
  • Proficiency with tools such as those in Google Workspace
  • A ‘can do’ attitude

Experience you may have

  • Working on a summer school or holiday camp
  • Leading a student organisation
  • Volunteering with the Scouts or similar organisations

Personality traits of a great Study Leader

  • Enthusiastic about education
  • Always plans well and thoroughly organised
  • Firm but friendly approach when dealing with others
  • Calm, reassuring and approachable

You may hold, or be working towards first aid or safeguarding certifications.

Interview

Interviews will take place either online using Google Meet or at our offices in Oxford or Cambridge—you will be informed via an email invitation.

After being introduced to the role, you will be asked about your relevant experience. Your interviewer will also find out how you would respond to scenarios that often arise in this role. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and find out more throughout.

Students sign up to courses throughout the year, so positions will be filled on a rolling basis. This may mean that we will be unable to confirm the details of vacancies at the interview. If you are made an offer we will contact you separately to offer specific roles, dates, and location.
