Oxford Teaching Methodology for Ages 13-15
Our Oxford Summer Courses for ages 13–15 hosted at Oxford colleges are designed to reflect the teaching styles used at Oxford University, combining seminars, masterclasses, and directed study to create an engaging and dynamic learning experience. Seminars are small-group discussions where students explore key ideas, debate opposing viewpoints, and develop critical thinking skills. Tutors guide the discussions and challenge students to think independently, defend their arguments, and engage with complex material. This encourages students to develop confidence in articulating their thoughts and evaluating different perspectives.
Masterclasses focus on building essential life skills such as communication, leadership, and problem-solving. Through practical exercises like case studies and leadership challenges, students learn how to apply their academic knowledge in real-world scenarios. Directed study allows students to engage in independent research and project work, encouraging them to take ownership of their learning. This balanced teaching style ensures that students develop not only strong academic skills but also the independence and adaptability needed for future success.
