Main duties and responsibilities

A fantastic opportunity for someone with an interest in HR and education to be a key part of the planning, preparation, and support of staff to deliver our courses.

About the role

  • Location: Oxford
  • Start: Date
  • Reports to: Senior Operations Manager
  • Working pattern: Full time, typically based in the office or on site at our host colleges
  • Salary: £30,000 pa pro rata

We’re looking for an experienced individual to join our high performing Service Delivery department. You’ll support around 250 fixed term residential and non-residential course staff to carry out their duties to a high standard, ensuring courses run smoothly. Working closely with our Operations team, you’ll react to staff-related problems, following existing procedures and taking the lead on resolving them. Main duties include:

  • Point of contact - First point of contact for on-course staff queries, advising as needed and attending weekly meetings to ensure courses are running successfully.
  • Upholding standards - Helping ensure all on-course staff maintain company standards, while maintaining a respectful image of the company and yourself
  • HR support - Provide support and take action on any HR issues, implementing solutions with the guidance of the Operations Manager/ HR Team.
  • Staff discipline - Responding to staff disciplinary issues, and escalating as needed.
  • Covering absences - Providing cover for on-course staff in the event of staff absences.
  • Record keeping - Keeping accurate records including any issues that arise.
  • Emergency rota - Share emergency rota responsibilities with the Operations team during delivery.
  • Assisting with other delivery duties - Attending staff training, assisting with site setup and any other duties as required within the Head Office team to support course delivery.

About you

  • You’re a calm, personable individual who enjoys working with a diverse team
  • You’re able to communicate clearly and diplomatically both verbally and in writing
  • You take the initiative, making key decisions in consultation with others and ensuring they’re actioned
  • You’re able to adjust your priorities in response to new information, proactively and creatively problem-solving as needed
  • You’re comfortable following procedures and approach your work with a growth mindset

Essential:

  • Experience of working in human resources, or similar roles
  • Experience working with young people
  • Proven ability and confidence in navigating difficult conversations
  • Clear evidence of strong organisational and task management skills
  • Thorough with great attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices
  • Experience working in a summer school environment
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRMs, GSuite and Slack
