Learning
Outline
Law is designed for 13–15-year-olds who are interested in understanding how legal systems shape our rights, freedoms, and responsibilities. Students will explore key legal concepts, such as the principles of justice, government control, and human rights, while examining real-world issues like cybercrime, fraud, and privacy. They’ll develop critical thinking and reasoning skills as they learn how the law adapts to new challenges, such as digital technology. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, making learning engaging, relevant, and thought-provoking. The course also includes a masterclass on teamwork and debating, along with a reflection session to help students track their goals and progress.
Teaching methodology
Learning in a small group (no more than 8 students and often fewer) means that you get quality time with your teacher and ask as many questions as you like! Through interactive learning, our teachers will guide you through new concepts and assign you practice tasks to build your knowledge and skills. You will also have an opportunity for group work, independent research, and homework assignments to be discussed in class. Small classes mean everyone gets to have their say, and students learn from debating with one another, as well as from their tutor.

The Oxford Summer Courses experience
Get ready to explore the rules that shape society. On our Law course for ages 13–15, your child will dive into legal systems, rights, responsibilities, and justice — learning how laws are made, applied, and challenged across different cultures and contexts. They’ll explore real-life cases, develop persuasive arguments, and begin to think like a lawyer. With no fixed curriculum, students are encouraged to share their interests when they apply, and our expert tutors will tailor the course content to reflect those passions wherever possible.
With no more than 8 students per class (and often fewer), learners benefit from a focused, discussion-led environment where they can ask questions, debate topics, and develop their confidence in presenting ideas. Lessons combine tutor-led exploration with critical thinking tasks, group discussions, and independent research. Dedicated study sessions allow time for students to reflect, complete assignments, and receive support from on-course staff.
Beyond the classroom, the learning continues through a full summer programme — including games, social events, city outings, and a final graduation ceremony and disco. It’s a summer that builds confidence, curiosity, and the foundations of legal thinking.
