Outline
History is designed for 13–15-year-olds who want to explore key moments in history and understand how the past shapes the present. Students will learn how to interpret historical sources, conduct research, and draw conclusions based on evidence. They’ll study a range of periods and figures, from Ancient Greece to the Renaissance to World War I, developing critical thinking and analytical skills along the way. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, making learning engaging and relevant. The course also includes a masterclass on teamwork and debating, along with a reflection session to help students track their goals and progress.
Teaching methodology
Learning in a small group (no more than 8 students and often fewer) means that you get quality time with your teacher and ask as many questions as you like! Through interactive learning, our teachers will guide you through new concepts and assign you practice tasks to build your knowledge and skills. You will also have an opportunity for group work, independent research, and homework assignments to be discussed in class. Small classes mean everyone gets to have their say, and students learn from debating with one another, as well as from their tutor.
The city of Cambridge, with over 800 years of academic tradition, has long been a centre for exploring history, ideas, and culture. From medieval scholarship to modern historical research, Cambridge has helped shape how we understand the past and its influence on the present. As part of the 13–15 History programme, your child will live in a city defined by heritage and learning. The city of Cambridge provides the perfect backdrop for study, with its historic colleges, renowned museums, and landmarks that bring centuries of history to life.
Accommodation is available in single or twin rooms, depending on the tier chosen. Plus students can choose single or twin, Superior guarantees an ensuite, and Premier provides concierge-selected rooms. All options include shared spaces and on-course staff for support.
Meals are provided on a full-board basis, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. Students eat in the college dining hall or at local restaurants. All dietary requirements are catered for.

Small seminar-style lessons (maximum 8 students) ensure every student has a voice, encouraging them to question, critique, and form their own interpretations. Afternoons include guided research, group challenges, and museum visits that bring history alive across Oxford’s iconic academic landscape. With structured social time and a friendly community throughout the week, students grow in confidence as communicators and critical thinkers — discovering that understanding the past is a powerful way to make sense of the future.
