Learning

Outline

Technology Explorers is designed for 11–12-year-olds who are curious about how technology works and how it shapes the world around us. Students will get hands-on with the basics of programming, electronics, and design, while also exploring modelling, engineering, and creative problem-solving. They’ll learn how to think like inventors and approach challenges with innovation and logic. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, keeping it relevant, exciting, and engaging. Each day also includes a reflection activity to help students absorb what they’ve learned.

Teaching methodology

Our teaching for 11-12-year-old students is focused on interactive and task-based learning. You will be taught by experienced primary teachers, who are there to inspire and engage you with the subjects they are passionate about. Our courses run over a week, and during this time you will develop your subject knowledge through multimedia presentations, group work, games, problem-solving, and project work with a meaningful real-life focus. This teaching style has an increased focus on age-appropriate content and offers more opportunities for independent group work than our 9-10 courses.

The Oxford Summer Courses Experience

Technology Explorers introduces young learners to the exciting role technology plays in shaping our world — from apps and robots to digital creativity and smart design. Through hands-on challenges and teamwork, students discover how problem-solving, logic, and imagination come together to create innovation. It’s a confidence-boosting way to explore technology as something they can build, shape, and understand — not just use.

Each weekday includes two extended morning lessons taught in small groups (max 12–15 students) where students get practical with coding concepts, digital design and technology-focused puzzles. Afternoons include guided project time, collaborative activities and off-site excursions that show technology in action beyond the classroom. With structured evening socials, full supervision and a supportive community, students grow their independence, teamwork and curiosity — discovering new ways to express ideas through tech.
