Our Relationship with Oxford

Oxford Summer Courses operates independently and is not affiliated with the University of Oxford. However, our programmes are deeply inspired by the city’s remarkable academic atmosphere and are delivered in its authentic college settings — allowing students to study in one of the world’s most inspiring educational environments.

Oxford is more than a place of study — it’s a place of discovery. With centuries of history and culture at every turn, the city inspires students to explore, imagine, and engage with new ideas. From college quads and spires to museums and markets, every moment in Oxford invites curiosity and connection.

Courses for Ages 13–15: Learners in Transition

Our courses for ages 13–15 are designed to bridge the gap between structured school learning and the independence of higher study. Lessons are dynamic and interactive, giving students space to explore their ideas, test their understanding, and collaborate with others.

With class sizes capped at eight students, every learner gets the attention and encouragement they need to grow. Tutors guide discussion rather than dictate it — helping students discover how they learn best while nurturing curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

The Academic Experience

Learning in a small group (no more than eight students and often fewer) means that every student gets quality time with their tutor and the freedom to ask questions, share ideas, and explore new concepts. Through interactive lessons, tutors guide students in developing subject knowledge and confidence through practice tasks, discussions, and collaborative projects.

Each student also takes part in independent research and group assignments, which are later reviewed in class for feedback and reflection. This personalised approach makes every class an opportunity to learn by doing — deepening understanding through participation and conversation.
