Outline
Law is designed for 18–24-year-olds who are interested in understanding the complexities of the legal system. Students will explore the role of the European Court of Justice, the relationship between legal systems, and how laws shape our thinking and actions. The course will critically examine different legal systems globally, from national to international law, exploring their evolution, intricacies, and application. Students will delve into the challenges and controversies of harmonising laws across jurisdictions and the growing role of bureaucracy in modern legal systems. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, ensuring that learning is engaging and relevant. The course also includes a masterclass on critical thinking, along with a reflection session to track progress and set new goals.
Teaching methodology
Learn the Oxford way with tutorial-style teaching. Your expert tutor will foster self-directed learning and critical thinking through interactive seminars in small groups (no bigger than 8). During your course, you will complete two pieces of independent work (essays or problem sheets), which your tutor will then evaluate in either a 1:1 or 2:1 tutorial. Tutorials will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your work and feedback with your tutor and learn new perspectives from your classmates. On completion of the course, you'll receive a certificate and letter of recommendation from your tutor.
The city of Oxford, with nearly 1,000 years of academic history, has a long tradition of legal scholarship, educating judges, barristers, and lawmakers who have influenced justice around the world. As part of the 18–24 Law programme, you’ll live in a city shaped by debate, argument, and the pursuit of fairness. The city of Oxford provides an inspiring backdrop for learning, with its historic colleges, libraries, and enduring tradition of legal thought and discussion.
Accommodation is in single or twin rooms, depending on the tier. Plus lets you choose single or twin; Superior guarantees an ensuite; and Premier provides concierge-selected rooms. All include shared spaces and on-course staff support.
Meals are provided on a half-board basis (breakfast and dinner), served in college dining halls or at selected local restaurants. Students arrange their own lunch. All dietary requirements are catered for.

Law shapes how societies function — defining rights, resolving disputes, and holding power to account. In Oxford, students explore the foundations of legal systems through case analysis, debate, and ethical discussion. With tutorial groups capped at eight students, learners are encouraged to think independently, question assumptions, and defend arguments with confidence. Two pieces of independent work — supported through personalised, tutorial-style feedback — help strengthen legal reasoning and academic writing. Alongside enrichment activities, supportive college-style living, and a global network of peers, the course provides a meaningful introduction to future pathways in law and related fields. Each student leaves with a certificate of completion and a tailored tutor recommendation to support next academic steps.
