Outline
Law is designed for 16–17-year-olds interested in understanding the complexities of the legal system. Students will explore key concepts such as the anatomy of a case, the role of the jury, and how they arrive at unbiased decisions. The course will cover various topics, including human rights, public morality, and international law, allowing students to engage with real-world legal challenges and controversies. They’ll also delve into the history of law, examining how legal systems have evolved over time. Students will develop critical thinking and analytical skills while learning to construct and present arguments effectively, just like a lawyer. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, ensuring learning is both engaging and relevant. The course includes a masterclass on critical thinking, along with a reflection session to track progress and set new goals.
Teaching methodology
Learn the Oxford way with tutorial-style teaching. Your expert tutor will foster self-directed learning and critical thinking through interactive seminars in small groups (no bigger than 8). During your course, you will complete two pieces of independent work (essays or problem sheets), which your tutor will then evaluate in either a 1:1 or 2:1 tutorial. Tutorials will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your work and feedback with your tutor and learn new perspectives from your classmates. On completion of the course, you'll receive a certificate and letter of recommendation from your tutor.
The city of Cambridge, with more than 800 years of academic tradition, has a distinguished history of legal scholarship—shaping debates on justice, governance, and human rights. As part of the 16–17 Law programme, you’ll live in a city defined by inquiry, argument, and critical thought. The city of Cambridge provides an inspiring backdrop for learning, with its historic colleges, renowned libraries, and a long tradition of exploring how law influences society.
Accommodation is in single or twin rooms, depending on the tier. Plus lets you choose single or twin; Superior guarantees an ensuite; Premier provides concierge-selected rooms. All include shared spaces and on-course staff support.
Meals are provided on a half-board basis, including breakfast and dinner. Meals are served at the accommodation or at local restaurants, offering a variety of dining options.

What does justice look like in practice? In Cambridge, students explore the legal principles that govern society — from criminal and civil law to international human rights. Through case discussions, structured debate, and ethical reasoning, they learn how lawyers analyse complex scenarios and argue with clarity and confidence. It’s an opportunity to discover how law shapes the world — and where their own voice fits within it.
Small, interactive seminars (maximum eight students) give every learner space to contribute, while independent assignments are developed further in tutorial-style sessions with expert tutors. Students stay in a Cambridge college setting, enjoy organised cultural and social experiences, and build friendships across nationalities. By the end of the course, they’ll take home sharper analytical abilities, a certificate of completion, and a personalised letter of recommendation to support their future academic ambitions.
