Business and Entrepreneurship at Oxford Summer Courses for ages 16–17 provides an in-depth exploration of the fast-paced, ever-evolving world of business. In today’s digital age, more individuals are creating their own companies, but entrepreneurship requires strategic investment and planning to succeed. On this extensive course, you'll cover essential topics such as competition, globalization, macroeconomics, and the marketing mix. Learn what it truly takes to build a business in the modern world and experience the creative energy of capitalism. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, making learning engaging and relevant. Alongside your studies, engage in tutorial Q&A sessions, participate in an academic skills masterclass, explore future career pathways through expert speakers, attend a university fair, and visit different Oxford colleges for a full summer school experience.
Teaching methodology
Learn the Oxford way with tutorial-style teaching. Your expert tutor will foster self-directed learning and critical thinking through interactive seminars in small groups (no bigger than 8). During your course, you will complete two pieces of independent work (essays or problem sheets), which your tutor will then evaluate in either a 1:1 or 2:1 tutorial. Tutorials will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your work and feedback with your tutor and learn new perspectives from your classmates. On completion of the course, you'll receive a certificate and letter of recommendation from your tutor.
The city of Oxford, with nearly 1,000 years of academic history, has long been associated with enterprise, innovation, and ideas that have shaped industries worldwide. As part of the 16–17 Business and Entrepreneurship programme, you’ll live in a city known for creativity, problem-solving, and global connections. The city of Oxford provides an inspiring backdrop for learning, with its long tradition of exploring how ideas grow into ventures that influence the world.
Accommodation is in single or twin rooms, depending on the tier. Plus lets you choose single or twin; Superior guarantees an ensuite; Premier provides concierge-selected rooms. All include shared spaces and on-course staff support.
Meals are half-board (breakfast and dinner), served in college dining halls or selected local restaurants, with students arranging their own lunch. All dietary requirements are catered for.

From bold ideas to real-world impact — this course gives students the chance to explore how businesses start, grow, and shape the world around us. In Oxford, learners examine core concepts including strategy, marketing, finance, and innovation while analysing real case studies to understand what makes ventures succeed. Through discussions and collaborative challenges, they begin to think like decision-makers — creative, adaptable, and ready to problem-solve.
With a maximum of eight students per class, seminars feel interactive and personal. Students complete independent assignments such as pitches or business proposals, receiving tailored, tutorial-style feedback from their expert tutor to strengthen both confidence and commercial thinking. Living in an Oxford college setting, connecting with peers from around the world, and taking part in enrichment activities creates a supportive and inspiring environment. Every student leaves with a certificate, personalised tutor recommendation, and a clearer understanding of how entrepreneurship can turn curiosity into opportunity.
