Outline
Natural Sciences is designed for 16–17-year-olds who are interested in the interconnections between different scientific fields. Students will explore how concepts in physics, chemistry, and biology overlap and how advancements in one area can lead to discoveries in another. They’ll develop a deeper understanding of how the natural world functions and gain hands-on experience in applying scientific principles to real-world problems. Through a mix of solo and group study, they’ll sharpen their critical thinking skills and explore emerging interdisciplinary fields that are highly relevant today. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, making learning both engaging and relevant. The course also includes a masterclass on critical thinking and collaboration, as well as a reflection session to track their progress and set new goals.
Teaching methodology
Learn the Oxford way with tutorial-style teaching. Your expert tutor will foster self-directed learning and critical thinking through interactive seminars in small groups (no bigger than 8). During your course, you will complete two pieces of independent work (essays or problem sheets), which your tutor will then evaluate in either a 1:1 or 2:1 tutorial. Tutorials will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your work and feedback with your tutor and learn new perspectives from your classmates. On completion of the course, you'll receive a certificate and letter of recommendation from your tutor.

As part of the 16–17 Natural Sciences programme, you’ll live in a city defined by inquiry and innovation. Accommodation is in single or twin rooms, depending on the tier. Plus lets you choose single or twin; Superior guarantees an ensuite; Premier provides concierge-selected rooms. All include shared spaces and on-course staff support.
Meals are provided on a half-board basis, including breakfast and dinner. Meals are served at the accommodation or at local restaurants, offering a variety of dining options.

Natural Sciences brings biology, chemistry, and physics together to explore the systems that shape the living world and the technologies of the future. In Cambridge, students stay in college accommodation and learn in a city recognised globally for scientific innovation. With cultural excursions and evening social events included, they build confidence and independence while connecting with peers from around the world in a supportive and academically inspiring setting.
Teaching is delivered through small seminar-style classes (maximum 8 students), guided by expert tutors who tailor content to the group’s interests — from molecular biology and materials science to ecology and sustainability. Students complete two independent assignments and discuss their ideas through personalised 1:1 or 2:1 tutorial-style feedback. They leave with stronger scientific reasoning and communication skills, a certificate of completion, and a personalised tutor recommendation to support future study across a wide range of STEM pathways.
