Outline
Mathematics is designed for 16–17-year-olds who want to deepen their understanding of mathematical theory and improve problem-solving skills. Students will explore fundamental mathematical concepts and develop the ability to reason rigorously with mathematics, going beyond basic calculations. They’ll learn how to apply mathematical thinking to solve real-world problems and how to prove or disprove mathematical arguments. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, making learning engaging and relevant. The course includes tutorial Q&A sessions, an academic skills masterclass, expert speakers, and visits to different Oxford colleges. Students will also have the opportunity to attend a university fair to explore future career pathways.
Teaching methodology
Learn the Oxford way with tutorial-style teaching. Your expert tutor will foster self-directed learning and critical thinking through interactive seminars in small groups (no bigger than 8). During your course, you will complete two pieces of independent work (essays or problem sheets), which your tutor will then evaluate in either a 1:1 or 2:1 tutorial. Tutorials will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your work and feedback with your tutor and learn new perspectives from your classmates. On completion of the course, you'll receive a certificate and letter of recommendation from your tutor.
The city of Oxford, with nearly 1,000 years of academic history, has been associated with some of the world’s greatest mathematical thinkers, from Ada Lovelace, the pioneer of computing, to Sir Roger Penrose, Nobel Prize–winning physicist. As part of the 16–17 Mathematics programme, you’ll live in a city shaped by logic, problem-solving, and discovery. The city of Oxford provides an inspiring backdrop for learning, with its long tradition of mathematical thought that continues to influence how we understand the world.
Accommodation is in single or twin rooms, depending on the tier. Plus lets you choose single or twin; Superior guarantees an ensuite; Premier provides concierge-selected rooms. All include shared spaces and on-course staff support.
Meals are half-board (breakfast and dinner), served in college dining halls or selected local restaurants, with students arranging their own lunch. All dietary requirements are catered for.

Mathematics is the language of logic, patterns, and possibility. With no more than eight students per group, teaching is discussion-based and highly personalised. Learners complete independent assignments, take part in interactive seminars, and receive tailored feedback through tutorial-style sessions — helping them reason more clearly and communicate ideas with confidence. Beyond academics, students live and study in a collegiate setting, experience cultural excursions, and build friendships from around the world. They return home with stronger analytical skills, renewed confidence, and a certificate plus a tutor-written letter recognising their progress.

Founded in 1753, the museum covers over 2 million years of human history, from ancient civilisations to modern times.
Visiting Warwick Castle is an opportunity to explore the rich history of this magnificent medieval fortress. It dates back to the 11th century and has played a significant role in English history. Students can explore the castle's impressive collection of buildings and exhibitions, as well as witness jousting tournaments, falconry displays, and other live shows.
The Tower of London is a historic castle and fortress that has served as a royal palace, prison, and even a zoo over the centuries. Visitors can explore its impressive collection of buildings and exhibitions, including the iconic White Tower, the Crown Jewels, and the medieval palace. They can also learn about the infamous prisoners who were held in the tower over the centuries, including Anne Boleyn and Guy Fawkes.
Visiting Westminster in London is a must-see for anyone interested in the city's rich history and iconic landmarks.
