Computer Science

For 18-24 year olds, our Computer Science programme is ordinarily taught through three one-hour tutorials per week. All readings and seminar questions will be circulated prior to the seminars.

The course gives students an opportunity to explore a number of programming languages in detail, beginning with an introduction to Python and a look at programming environments, before moving on to frameworks and HTML/CSS development. This will then be developed into a more practical application, linking to knowledge of databases and webservers, ultimately with a view to building a sample blog application and deploying to Heroku.

Ravin Kohli, 2016 Computer Science, India

I was looking for summer courses online and found OSC and was really attracted towards the course description and the fact that you get a true experience of the Oxford University life. I loved meeting new people and learning about their cultures, this is what really made my experience unforgettable. I really enjoyed the method of teaching because having small classes and the chance to speak to your tutor one to one is very beneficial. I had the best group leaders, they were friendly, accommodating and fun to talk to and go out with. I really like city because it is full of traditions and lots of British history has taken place here, and I really enjoyed visiting the most famous library in the UK, the city is young and you meet a lot of people that are like minded. I enjoyed every activity but punting was a really highlight once you get to grips with controlling the punt!
