Oxford Summer Courses is proud to be Stanford University’s only European partner when it comes to summer course providers. That means we can give exclusive and exciting academic opportunities to some of the world’s brightest minds. And you could be part of it.

What is the Stanford Course?

Our partnership with Stanford University gives students aged 14-17 the opportunity to experience a two-week course, introducing you to American college life at a world-renowned institution.

Learning through immersive workshops, you and your classmates will challenge your problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity and innovation skills, helping you to develop and grow academically.

Unlike our other courses, you will have a rounded experience with our multi-subject option. Taught by Stanford academics, you will explore a range of subjects such as robotics and other STEM subjects, creative writing and leadership.

Why should I attend the Stanford course?

Excellent teaching

Stanford is renowned for their innovation and research, and every class you participate in is taught by an expert in that field – so you know that you’re learning from the best.

Our classes are also nothing like school. We offer students an authentic taste of the university lifestyle, so you’ll be participating in a mixture of subject sessions and workshops, taught as college-style seminars enjoying the same style of learning that real Stanford students would experience.

Exciting extracurricular activities

When you’re not immersing yourself in a range of exciting subjects, you will get to enjoy life in sunny California – exploring Silicon Valley and the Bay Area, or sightseeing at local landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge for an all-round American experience. You may even get the chance to go to a Giants baseball game!

College experience

Staying at Stanford University, you will experience what it’s really like to study at a US college. You’ll stay in dormitories that are usually occupied by students in other months, as well as eat and study on campus for a truly authentic taste of student living.

As mentioned above, when you’re not in class you’ll even have the chance to explore the local area with your friends. Just like Stanford students would!

Meet friends for life

Joining you on your academic adventure will be a small group of like-minded students from all over the world. You’ll spend a lot of time working with them during class, but you’ll also have the opportunity to explore the local sights with each other. You will also be able to enjoy some much needed downtime, where you and your friends can hang out and get to know one another.

Experienced pastoral staff

If you need any help or support during your stay, you can also rest assured that you’ll be well looked after. With a dedicated team of experienced counsellors and mentors, we have someone available to talk to 24/7, should you need it.

Entrepreneur panel

Another exciting part of your academic adventure will be a scheduled afternoon session where you can join an entrepreneurs Q&A panel. With industry experts from companies such as Google and Tesla, you’ll have the opportunity to quiz some of Silicon Valley’s most successful minds and find out what it really takes to reach the top.

Boost your university application and/or CV

Showing potential employers and universities that you’ve studied at one of the best universities in the world will do your CV and future applications a world of good. You’ll be able to prove you’re a dedicated learner with a passion for trying new experiences and exploring the world. All skills which are hugely favourable for employers and universities!
