Explore Law at Oxford Summer Courses
What makes a law fair? How should societies balance freedom and security? Who decides what justice looks like when values collide?
Students aged 13–24 explore these questions through discussion, debate, and legal case studies that reveal how law shapes everyday life. From criminal justice and human rights to international law and government power, students develop the critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and communication skills that underpin legal study.
Studying in Oxford or Cambridge, students learn in small groups, challenge different viewpoints, and engage with some of society's most important questions.

A Course Built Around Your Interests
No two Law courses are exactly the same. Before the programme begins, you'll share your academic interests and areas of curiosity. Your tutor will use this information to help shape discussions and select topics, creating a course that reflects the interests of the group.
Explore Law Through Debate and Discussion
Law is full of complex questions with no easy answers. Through discussion, debate, and case analysis, you'll examine legal dilemmas, challenge different viewpoints, and build the confidence to defend your ideas using evidence and reason.
Experience Oxford-Style Learning
Inspired by Oxford's teaching methods, students learn through discussion-based seminars rather than traditional lectures. Older students also take part in tutorials, exploring legal concepts in depth with a tutor and a small number of peers.
Learn from Expert Law Tutors
Our tutors bring expertise from a wide range of legal fields, combining academic knowledge with real-world insight. They are selected not only for their subject expertise, but also for their ability to inspire curiosity, encourage discussion, and support students as they develop their understanding of law. To learn more, explore our law tutors and their academic backgrounds.
Think Like a Lawyer
Law is about more than memorising rules. You'll learn how to analyse evidence, evaluate arguments, identify weaknesses in reasoning, and build persuasive cases. These skills are valuable not only in law, but across a wide range of academic and professional pathways.
What Might You Study?
Topics vary from year to year, but could include questions such as: What makes a law fair? How should courts balance individual freedom with public safety? What role do human rights play in modern society? By exploring real legal issues, you'll gain a deeper understanding of how law shapes the world around us.
Leave With Valuable Academic Feedback
At the end of the course, you'll receive a certificate of completion and personalised feedback from your tutor. This highlights your participation, engagement, and academic development throughout the programme, helping you reflect on your progress and strengths.
Careers, Skills, and Future Study
