The colleges are located throughout the city of Cambridge, all within walking distance of the city centre, which has historical buildings, tourist attractions, and shops.

Hughes Hall College was founded in 1885 as a college for “advanced students” by Elizabeth Wordsworth, a great-niece of the poet William Wordsworth. Her goal was to provide educational opportunities for mature students who were 21 years or older and who may not have had the opportunity to attend university earlier in life. Throughout its history, Hughes Hall has produced many notable alumni, including the writer Alison Uttley, the American lawyer Evan Wallach, and the author Mary Vivian Hughes.

Hughes Hall student accommodation consists of modern, single rooms with a spacious communal terrace, which is a favourite of our students during the summer.Hughes Hall is in an excellent location within the city, sandwiched between the incredible, renowned restaurants of downtown Cambridge and the delicious meals available at Mill Road's independent restaurants and bars.
