Study Human, Social and Political Sciences with Oxford Summer Courses

Human, Social and Political Sciences Summer School

Social science is, in the broadest sense, the study of societies from a local to global scale in order to better understand how our own society works. By addressing “what it is to be human” and the processes that shape both social and international relationships, it informs the actions of governments, policy makers and third sector organisations alike. Our course will equip you with the tools to evaluate and understand the complex world we live in as our society continues to evolve.

At Oxford Summer Courses we are committed to the best academic experiences and to the personalised learning that has made Oxford a global academic force. So while all of our tutors are at the top of their fields depending on your age you'll be taught in slightly different ways. We use small group seminars to ensure that you get greater attention than you could elsewhere. On top of that if you're aged 16-17 or 18-24 then you'll receive weekly tutorials from leading academics mirroring the teaching method that makes Oxford a world-renowned university. Choose your Human, Social and Political Sciences course below:

18-24 years

  • 2 and 4 week courses available
  • Cambridge University accommodation
  • tutorials & group seminars
  • Breakfast and dinner included
Our Human, Social & Political Science summer course for 18-24 year olds is taught through four seminars and one supervision study per week. During the weekly supervision study, students will produce an essay which puts what is learned in seminars into action, and expert staff will give you comprehensive feedback on your arguments and writing style.

This course examines big questions. What makes us human? What does it mean to be human? How does society work? The Human, Social & Political Science course will expand students’ understanding of these core questions by examining them through the framework of the social sciences. The programme will dive deeper into three of the core social science disciplines: social anthropology, politics & international relations, and sociology. The goal of the course is to equip the student with the necessary tools to evaluate and understand the complex world in which we live. Students will work closely with expert tutors to explore the world of social anthropology, examining our social and cultural diversity as humans.
