So while all of our tutors are at the top of their fields depending on your age you'll be taught in slightly different ways. We use small group seminars to ensure that you get greater attention than you could elsewhere. On top of that if you're aged 16-17 or 18-24 then you'll receive weekly tutorials from leading academics mirroring the teaching method that makes Oxford a world-renowned university. 18-24 years

For 18-24 year olds, our Computer Science programme is ordinarily taught through three one-hour tutorials per week. All readings and seminar questions will be circulated prior to the seminars.

The course gives students an opportunity to explore a number of programming languages in detail, beginning with an introduction to Python and a look at programming environments, before moving on to frameworks and HTML/CSS development. This will then be developed into a more practical application, linking to knowledge of databases and webservers, ultimately with a view to building a sample blog application and deploying to Heroku.

Oxford Summer Courses’ Computer Science programme is ordinarily taught through three one-hour tutorials per week. All readings and seminar questions will be circulated prior to the seminars.

In week 1 we cover an introduction to Python, exploring the syntax, uses and application of the programming language, before we explore frameworks and HTML/CSS development. After an initial look at frameworks, we'll then go into more detail in the second week begin, applying this knowledge into SQL databases and webservers with the aim looking at building a sample blog application and deploying to Heroku.

13-15 years

Our 13-15 year old courses uses a seminar and workshop-based teaching platform to give you an immersive and practical experience of computer science. We'll take an in-depth look at the world of web and mobile development, tailoring students' experiences according to their knowledge and interests. At the end of the course you'll have been introduced to different programming languages and even had a go at developing your own mobile app.

With no more than six students to a tutor we ensure all students get ample time to ask questions and learn about computers and computer programming. We also supplement the seminars with practical workshops where students can put their new skills to the test. These highly interactive sessions give you the chance learn about the world of computer science and help you develop your understanding while having lots of fun learning to build websites and apps.

TECH EXPLORERS

Do you have what it takes to be three types of tech whizz? Our Tech Explorers course brings together skills from the worlds of technology, engineering, and computer science in a dynamic, robotics-focused course. Design and construct your own robot, programme its movements, and explore the relationship between machinery and the environment. You will discover the exciting ways technology is improving our world, and what life is like for a code breaker or jet plane designer. What problem will your robot solve?

Staff

Dr Guillermo Tirelli

Dr Guillermo Tirelli works on educational and digital projects combining philosophy, languages, human sciences, design and technologies. He studied philosophy and received his teaching qualification in Cordoba, Argentina. He moved to Paris to continue his education obtaining his Master degree and a PHD in philosophy at the Sorbonne University in Paris under the direction of Jean-Luc Marion (Académie Française). After his PHD he specialised in Media Arts. In parallel to his studies and teaching he has been working as a computer programmer for more than 20 years. He writes articles in his research about the relation between human sciences and digital technologies and works in teaching, in writing, in web projects and in ebook editions. He speaks five languages.
